Formal Writing Assignments
You have two major assignments in this class.
One is to write a critical reflection on the process of writing an autobiography. In this critical research paper, you should select an aspect of the theory of life writing that interests you most in the seminar. You should then reflect on the process of your own autobiographical writing. You may include excerpts from your private writing if you wish.
The critical reflection should be 10 pages long (double-spaced, MLA format) and have a scholarly apparatus. You will be submitting a first draft by April 20, which we will discuss together and then a final draft. The final draft is due by Monday, May 7, 6.30pm.
- The other assignment is the result of your work on the Shamokin Oral History Project. You will collaborate with members of the seminar to produce an edited and published version of the oral interview you conducted in Shamokin. You will be graded for this on a) collaborative work, b) demonstrated knowledge of the theory of life writing; c) execution of project. This project due date is also Monday, May 7, 6.30pm.
