Reading and hearing about slavery has been truly eye opening, I have read about slavery and seen movies about slavery but this hit my heart with the riveting descriptions and hearing how sad and depressed he was during this period. It made my draw connections to society today and how we still 200 years later haven’t achieved equality among all people. When he says “fresh bunch of negroes” I was shocked, how could he say that? Explanation in class helped me to realize what he was trying to accomplish and allowed me to relate this piece to the presentation I did on medieval women. The correlation is that both had to use different personas in order to get their word across.
