Today I learned about how writing about the self, but using different points of view to refer to one’s self can help to bring the self closer to the subject at hand, or separate the self from the subject at hand. This was interesting to me because the same thing applies in everyday dialogues. This makes me think of how deeply connected ones writing can be to one’s speech, and if a person were to have an extensive sample of the speech. Is it reasonable to assume that if one has extensive samplings of the speech or writing of a person, they can predict what the other will be like? Can one’s writing and speech patterns be completely different? If so, what does that imply?
I personally feel as though my writing and speech patterns are generally extremely similar, but that is assuming I am actually trying to hold a conversation that I view as meaningful. If I were to view something as mundane I take a much more spontaneous and somewhat reserved mode of speech.
